General Civil Litigation
I have had substantial and continuous litigation experience in numerous trials and appeals since 1967, when I was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona. My civil litigation practice primarily involves the representation of individuals, families, and small business owners. My prior law firm, Sparks, Tehan & Ryley, P.C., including myself, served as lead counsel for Arizona Indian tribes before the Arizona Supreme Court in the most important cases involving water law in Arizona decided in the last decade. I have extensive experience developing litigation strategies that best achieve the goals of my clients, while being able to quickly respond to the needs of my clients when time is of the essence.
I have had a broad background in civil litigation involving many different kinds of legal matters, such as, for example, corporate and commercial law; fraud; breach of contract; leasing; franchising; real and personal property law; construction defects and disputes; homeowner complaints involving HOAs (homeowner associations), planned communities, and CC&Rs; health care law, including claims for health benefits wrongfully denied; ERISA (Employment, Retirement and Income Security Act) claims; estate planning, wills and trust, and probate disputes; personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice; insurance claims including subrogation matters; professional errors and omissions; employment disputes; state and federal governmental liability; state and federal administrative appeals; water law; natural resource and environmental law; Indian law; constitutional law; class actions; special actions; appeals; and alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration or mediation of claims, including but not limited to, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, health benefit claims, insurance disputes; construction defect disputes; and employment disputes.
